An understated figure that is among my favorite Fante akua’ba I’ve ever had. In photographs, it often appears larger than it is due to its especially elongated head—a feature I’m very drawn to. In hand, however, it’s the small scale, the gentle curve of the head, and the beautifully worn surface from handling that really stand out. For me, this is very much a figure that rewards being seen and held in person, where its quiet presence comes through far more clearly than it ever does in a photograph.
