Styles of flutes in Burkina Faso are often
somewhat common between different ethnic
groups. This style is found among the Bwa,
Mossi, Nuna and Gurunsi. Due to the
patterns found on this example, in addition
to the style of the top with the triangular
design, I am inclined to classify it as Bwa
because it is very similar in style to others
identified as Bwa.

I especially like this style of flute because it
reminds me of a stylized human form with
bent arms with the hands resting on the
hips.
