Stool, Lobi peoples, Burkina Faso
24" long x 7.5" wide x 10" tall
wood, pigment
mid 20th century
$500
These stools, sometimes decorated with human or animal heads, could be carried over the shoulder with the long
extension in the front and the two legs behind. This design enabled their owners to carry them easily between
home and small bars where they spent the evening sorghum beer.
This example is a nice form of the classic style.
