Stool, Lobi peoples, Burkina Faso
25" long x 31" wide x 25" tall
wood, pigment
$1200
This type of object is often referred to as an opportunistic carving. The zoomorphic features,
such as tails and heads, are accentuated by the carver as he transforms a found branch into a
utilitarian object. This wonderfully abstract example suggests a three-legged animal. The surface
of the wood has a nice worn, smooth patina.
