This type of object is often referred to as an
opportunistic carving. The zoomorphic features,
such as tails and heads, are a
ccentuated by the carver as he transforms a found branch into a
utilitarian object. This wonderfully abstract example suggests a three-legged animal. The surface
of the wood has a nice worn, smooth patina.
