An exhibition called "Fragments du Vivant: African Sculpture from the Liliane and Michel Durand-Dessert
Collection" was held in conjunction with Parcours des Mondes 2008 in Paris this year. The exhibition was
housed in several large rooms in the Monnaie de Paris (the old Paris mint).

Below are some photos that I took at the exhibition. The photos were taken with the camera on my phone, so
they're not the best quality. There are two pages of photos of the exhibition which are then followed by a
page of photos from Parcours des Mondes 2007 and 2008. I've also created 3 pages of photos from
BRUNEAF in Brussels in 2008.

"Liliane and Michel Durand-Dessert have a unique and profoundly original
view of art, which they have shared for many years through their
contemporary art gallery and the numerous exhibitions they have staged.
This show reveals the same exacting passion that they have applied to
African art, which they have been collecting since 1980. Attracted by a
hieratic treatment of the human body, these collectors have a marked and
assertive aesthetic that reflects the influences of human hands and of
nature on the works. The approximately 150 examples of African art that
will be displayed in conjunction with the Parcours des mondes are equally
accessible aesthically to collectors of tribal art as well as those of
contemporary art. " - Artdaily.org

The
catalog from the exhibition contains some very nice photos of the
collection.
