| Dida raffia skirt, Ivory Coast plaited raffia palm fiber that is resist-dyed and re-dyed 19" wide x 47" long This is a tubular skirt that would have been worn by a Dida woman. These were ceremonial cloths highly prized by the Dida and are quite rare because they are no longer made. They were made by plaiting strands of raffia in a unique and complex process and giving them patterns by means of tied resists and dyeing them with natural dyes derived from plant roots, leaves and minerals. This example is uncommon due to the wide range of pattern styles found on it. $4000 To inquire about this object, send an email to RAND@RandTribal.com with a subject line of "Dida skirt #2".
